Events

A little bit more about our events

Are your events free?

Some events are free for you to join, others my involve a charge. It all depends on the event, time, duration and numerous other factors. General rule of thumb is that local ride outs, bike nights etc are all free, but some of our long weekends - like the Wheels & Waffles Tour - is chargeable.

Do I have to register

We prefer people to register as it helps us with logistics. Some events we don't mind if you just turn up - we'll do our best to accommodate. But people who register will always get preference over those who just turn up. Some events it is prerequisite to register i.e. Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

What is 125 & Newbie?

Our 15 & Newbie ride outs are aimed that those who either only ride a 125cc motorbike - whether that is through licence restrictions or choice. Newbies are those who have passed their test allowing them to ride a larger capacity bike within the last 12 months of the event.

We include newbies in these ride outs so that we can help them learn about group riding.

What does 'Unsupported' mean

Unsupported means that there is no official support if anything happens during an event such as ride out. You are responsible for your vehicle, ensuring it is safe and legal to be on the ride.

Do I need to attend the ride brief?

Yes. If you don't attend the ride brief (normally 15 mins before any event) then you will not be permitted to attend. The ride brief is important as it sets out the route and all of the requirements needed to take part.

Route library

Everything you need to know about our route library

How do I use a GPX file?

A GPX file (GPS Exchange Format) is a universal, XML-based text file used to store and share GPS data, including waypoints, routes and tracks for navigation. Whilst no two platforms are the same, the general rule of thumb is to import you .gpx file and should be opened by your platform/device.

Where is my route download?

After purchasing your GPX route, you will receive an email which will contain a link to the download. If you haven't received your email, please check your junk/spam folder. If you still don't have it, then drop an email with your order number to hello@veloceclub.co.uk and we'll send it over

Why do you charge for routes?

We charge a nominal fee - not for us, but we use the money collated (along with other events and activities) to make a donation to a designated charity at the end of the year.

The routes do involve planning then riding the route and then updating - and that does take up time. In addition the software used does come with an annual fee. So whilst we don't charge to make money, we felt (and we also ran this past people in our community) that a small fee that goes to charity would be a great idea.

Its a win-win - you get a great route and a charity gets some money!
